The Process

These Monetization Principles are intended to initiate a conversation and provide a framework for the responsible governance of social media monetization. They outline core principles and provide early reflections and guidance around risk assessments, stakeholder accountability and public transparency.
 
Their development was inspired and informed by, among others:
 
V.0 of the principles was drafted by WHAT TO FIX in consultation with a task force of experts bringing perspectives from the creator industry, independent media, advertising industry, business and human rights, and tech policy. Participating experts included Agustina Del Campo, Amber Sinha, Brandon Clement, Dunstan Allison-Hope, Gayatri Khandhadai, Kateryna Chystoforova, Nick Botton, Nyein Nyein Naing, Sarah Kay Wiley and Victoire Rio.
 
WHAT TO FIX will be reviewing feedback on an ongoing basis and organizing a series of virtual and in person consultations to build towards V.1.
